Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Begin by pouring the wine into a large pot over low heat. You want the wine to be warm, not boiling.

  2. Add your elderberries, orange peel, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise to the mix.

  3. Continue by adding sugar/honey, the cinnamon sticks, star anise, and a pinch of fresh ground nutmeg to the pot.

  4. Let the mixture simmer over low heat for at least 20 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.

  5. After ensuring the sugar/honey has dissolved completely and the wine is aromatic, strain the mulled wine into mugs or heatproof glasses.

While this delightfully festive drink bubbles away, the medley of spices mingles with the earthy elderberries, filling your home with an irresistible Christmas aroma. Serve it hot with a slice of orange or a cinnamon stick to garnish, if desired.

Elderberry mulled wine is indeed a warm hug on a chilly winter evening, and it captures the joyous spirit of the season perfectly. It's more than just a drink; it's a tradition, a memory-maker that leaves you toasty from head to toe, making winter arguably the coziest time of the year.

So, fill your home with the rich, comforting scent of mulled wine and create a culinary experience that speaks to the soul of the season. Here's to a winter filled with good health, abundant warmth, and loads of elderberry mulled wine.

Cheers!
