Exfoliating Sugar and Salt Body Scrub Recipe

DIY Exfoliating Body Scrub Recipe

Exfoliation is one of the simplest ways to keep skin looking smooth, healthy, and radiant. This sweet and salty sugar scrub gently buffs away dead skin while nourishing with lightweight jojoba oil and calming marshmallow root. It’s easy to make, effective, and leaves skin feeling soft, refreshed, and balanced.

This recipe makes approximately 10 ounces of scrub. Feel free to adjust the quantities up or down to scale it to your preferred amount.

Recipe Instructions

Here's how to make this exfoliating sugar and salt scrub:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic, fine-granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup fine sea salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons organic marshmallow root powder
  • 2/3 cup organic jojoba oil
  • 15 drops organic lavender essential oil

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, salt , and marshmallow root powder. Stir well until evenly mixed.
  2. Add the jojoba oil and lavender essential oil. Mix until the scrub reaches a wet-sand consistency.
  3. Transfer to an airtight container (pantry jars work beautifully) and store in a cool, dark place for up to six months. If you know you won’t use them for a while, you can also store extra jars in the fridge.

How to Use

Begin by wetting the skin with warm water to help soften it.

Scoop a small amount of scrub and gently massage onto the skin using slow, circular motions for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Use 2–3 times per week.

Pro Tips

  • Avoid coarse sugar or salt varieties, as they can be too abrasive and may cause micro-tears in the skin.
  • Sugar scrubs are best suited for areas with thicker skin such as legs, arms, and underarms. Do not use on the face or on very sensitive skin.
  • While it may be tempting to store your scrub in the shower, moisture can encourage mold and bacteria growth. For best results (and happiest skin), keep it stored in a cool, dark, dry place.
